The Hikone Plant's ISO 14001 Certification.
About the Hikone Plant
The Hikone Plant manufactures Bank of Japan Notes in Shiga Prefecture - a place rich in nature that is perhaps best known for Lake Biwa, home to many endemic species. The plant has long maintained and operated a production system that takes into consideration the region's natural environment, including the proper treatment of wastewater and waste discharged from the plant as well as environmental cleanup activities around it.
To establish these and other activities as an environmental management system, we began complying with the ISO 14001 standard in fiscal 2004. We acquired ISO 14001 certification in September 2006, and have continued to renew it ever since.
We are committed to improving this system, and our employees are united in their efforts to ensure that our business activities remain environmentally friendly.
